Commonwealth Games

Now a days hardly there will be anybody who doesn't know about the Commonwealth games. But do you know about the history of common wealth games.Commonwealth games are organised by the Commonwealth Games Federation(CFG).

First Commonwealth games were held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.Actually Commonwealth games were known as British Empire Games in their starting period.British Empire Games were started by the famous athlete Melville Marks Robinson of Canada in 1930.
Commonwealth games have been organised every four years except for 1942 and 1946 because of second world war.The games have undergone many changes.The games were known as British Empire Games during 1930 to 1950.From 1954 to 1966 they were known as British Empire and commonwealth Games.From 1970 to 1974 they took the title of British Commonwealth games.And in the 1978 this world class, unique and multi-sports event change its name to the Commonwealth Games.
